Let Us Renew Our Faith

“Let Us Renew Our Faith”

Lent, also known as the Lenten season or Great Lent, is a 40-day period of contemplation on Jesus' fasting and temptation in the desert. The liturgical season of Lent is a forty-day period of fasting and prayer before Easter, but is this still the case in today's society, or has it changed? Lent is the ecclesiastical year season that follows the Epiphany Season. Lent, or Kwaresma in Filipino, is a season in which Filipinos commemorate God's love poured out through Jesus Christ on the cross in his death, as well as his conquest over death, sin, and Satan in Christ's death and resurrection, which offers eternal life to you. In the Philippines, it is known as Mahal na Araw or Semana Santa. This season has a penitential and sad feel about it. This is to remind us to be repentant and to remind us of our sin and mortality.

The Lenten season begins immediately after the Epiphany feast. Lent is a liturgical season that lasts 48 days before the Paschal Triduum and begins on Ash Wednesday. During the Lenten Season, Filipinos participate in religious rituals such as Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Pabasa ng Pasyon, Cenacle, and Visita Iglesia. During Holy Week, traditional traditions such as prayers, devotions, fasting, and other religious ceremonies contribute to commemorating Jesus Christ's life to rescue us. Fasting from meals like meat is a universal tradition, but there are a number of techniques to exhibit self-control.

Filipinos are unquestionably rich in culture and tradition, which makes every celebration more enjoyable and anticipated. We may differ in how we observe Lent and provide sacrifice throughout the season, but what counts most is a person's pure desire and sincerity. Overall, the most significant consideration during Lent is how it will drive you to grow as a person and as a Christian. You can't grow until you're challenged and reflected on. You reflect in order to discover your flaws and overcome difficulty so that by Easter, you have better yourself in some manner. With the development of a vaccine, we expect to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We may expect a return to normalcy in the not-too-distant future. But, more significantly, throughout the Lenten season, we promote three lifestyle habits: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, among others.
