The Fall of Bataan

 The Fall of Bataan”

When I think about these three words, three words spring to mind: freedom, perseverance, and bravery. When I think about the Bataan Fall, these are the only words that spring to mind. Many Filipinos and troops shown amazing bravery and heroism in order to resist and fight back against an invasion. Officials in command of Bataan, where Filipino and American soldiers provided the heaviest resistance to the Japanese, formally surrendered on April 9, 1942. In accordance with Executive Order No. 203, s. Every year on April 9, 1987, is Araw ng Kagitingan. Proclamation No. 466, section In 1989, the Philippine Veterans Week was established in order to "promote, preserve, and honor the values, ideals, and actions of the Filipino war veteran as a method to foster patriotism and love of country, particularly among the land's youth."

The Day of Valor, also known as' Bataan Day 'or' Bataan and Corregidor Day 'in Filipino, honours the Filipino and American soldiers who fought against Japanese forces during World War II. During the Bataan Death March, over 76,000 Filipinos and Americans surrendered to Japanese soldiers. Thousands were killed as a result of dehydration, heat prostration, untreated wounds, and indiscriminate executions. Only 54,000 people arrived at their destination; the number of those who perished is difficult to quantify. The significance of the Battle of Bataan in 1942 should not be neglected by our children, grandchildren, or future generations. To build and grow a great nation, one must have a strong feeling of patriotism and a high regard for heroes. The acts and sacrifices of our troops in claiming victory despite all obstacles, as well as the townspeople's involvement in providing aid to the captive heroes, will give new meaning to words like patriotism, independence, bravery, and perseverance as we mark Araw ng Kagitingan each year.

.

They say that independence is not for the faint of heart. On that particular day, the soldiers were far from shy and submissive. The Bataan Death March demonstrates that both the troops and we, the Filipinos, deserve every ounce of liberty we have. The Araw ng Kagitingan honours the troops' bravery and strength during the Battle of Bataan. And, because history does not end with our past, or even with our present, Araw ng Kagitingan reminds us that our bravery must not be limited to protecting our shores against foreign invasion. As we have seen in several instances, our opponents may be located within our own country, within ourselves. There is no shortage of greedy individuals and groups, who frequently collude with outsiders for their own goals. Araw ng Kagitingan can never be about the brave actions of those who have come before us. The call to valor is for every Filipino to understand who we are, what we have been capable of in the past, what ideals we hold most dear today, and what we must do to safeguard them in the future.
